Abstract:

Digital version of Quaternary Geology maps of northern and southern Michigan.

Purpose: State-wide planning, evaluation, or management.

Supplemental_Information:

Hard copy maps digitized by the Michigan Natural Features Inventory using Intergraph Microstation. Michigan Resource Information System (MIRIS) data used as base reference. Digitized into three files in the Michigan state plane coordinate system. Converted to ARCINFO coverages using igdsarc commarnd. Cleaned in ARCINFO. Projected to Michigan GEOREF coordinate system by MDNR Real Estate Division, Resource Mapping & Aerial Photography Section. All three coverages joined together using mapjoin command. Corrections made along state plane line for zones 2 and 3 in the lower peninsula. Used hard copy map as reference when fixing errors (predominately slivers).
