Abstract:
Individual county water table depth raster datasets represent the depth to the water table encountered every 30 meter across the landscape. Each water table depth dataset was created by subtracting the county first water surface from the co-located digital elevation model.
Purpose:
This dataset is intended to give a general overview of the depth to the water table for the purposes of groundwater management.

The accuracy of the water table depth values were not tested for accuracy, except by visual inspection. Positive values indicate the depth of the water below the ground surface. Zero values represent water at the ground surface and negative values represent water above the surface of the ground. Negative values indicate obvious errors in the dataset and are a function of inconsistent datasets, dataset imprecision and digital elevation model precision.

The water table depth surface varies in consistency due to the inconsistincies in the data used during processing of the first water (water table) surface and the precision of the co-located digital elevation model.

All county files have been inspected for competeness to ensure that there is no missing information and that the data extend out to a 90-meter buffer around the county.

The majority of the input data meets 1:24,000 NMAS. In some counties, National Wetland Inventory data were used, which were photointerpreted from unrectified 1:58,000 scale aerial photography.
