The one-and-one-half-story, frame, rectangular Joseph Bowers House has clapboard siding and a gable roof. A three-bay, one-story, front porch features a semi-hip roof supported by turned columns, with spindle and bracket work below the eaves.

Built in 1901, the Bowers House is significant as a particularly well preserved example of the typical kind of miners' housing constructed in Amasa at the turn of the century during the height of the town's boom period.
