| Narrative Description |
The Brown-Price House is a large, L-shaped, two-and-one-half-story, brick, Queen Anne structure with a pyramid-roof and square tower in the angle of the L. The house's gables are finished with patterned shingles, decorative bargeboards, and checkerboard woodwork imitating stone work. Window caps, sills, facings, and the corner quoining are of reddish-brown sandstone. The foundation is of brown sandstone and is topped by a plain water table. The house suffered from a severe fire in October of 1982, but has been rehabilitated. The best of the interior detailing, including an open-well staircase with turned oak woodwork and several mantelpieces, has survived.

| Statement of Significance |
The Brown-Price House is significant as the one-time home of prominent Lansing businessmen William C. Brown and Lawrence Price and as a major work of Darius B. Mood, Lansing's major turn-of-the-century residential architect. Constructed between 1890 and 1895, the structure's first owner was William C. Brown, a partner in several Lansing lumber yard operations. From 1912 to 1917 the house served as the residence of North Lansing merchant, manufacturer, and civic leader Lawrence Price, who is best known today for his bequest of nearly $100,000 to found what became St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing. The house is currently home to the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association.
