| Narrative Description |
The Houghton Public Library is a one-story, flat-roofed brick building with a large pediment supported by two full-length fluted columns on either side of the recessed double doors and two large pilasters. The front facade, which is traversed by a large, plain wood frieze, is symmetrical with two fixed windows and pilasters on either side of the central doors.

The Houghton Public Library is a fine example of Neo-Classical Revival architecture in Houghton and has been continuously in service as a library since its construction in 1909.
