| Statement of Significance |
Still held in the Bird Family today, the Bird/Boyd Farm Residence achieves significance as an excellent example of Midwestern Greek Revival architecture. Additionally, because it is an early home in one of the county's earliest settled townships, the building is noteworthy for its sheer age. Although research has failed to establish a precise associative history for this Greek Revival farmhouse, it is reasonably certain that Elijah and Edward Bird, early settlers in Argentine Township, were owners of the land. It is likely that one of them built this structure about 1846. Elijah became active in local government, serving as an assessor in 1852 and treasurer in 1855.
