| Narrative Description |
The B.F. Howland Lumber Company Building is a gambrel-roofed, one-and-one-half-story, frame, vernacular structure clad in clapboard and resting on a fieldstone foundation. The facade is a three-bay symmetrical composition consisting of two pedestrian entries separated by glass display windows. A single window is centered in the one-half story above the display windows, while the gambrel peak is clad with fishtail shingles.

| Statement of Significance |
The B.F. Howland Lumber Company Building is a good example of vernacular architecture preserved through adaptive reuse. It is association with the business interests of a former Michigan governor, Josiah Begole, who was a principle partner in the firm that B.F. Howland sold his interests to in 1880.
